Please, please, please let Langston Hughes’s words written in 1936 ring true in the 2020s

“O, let America be America again— / The land that never has been yet— / And yet must be—the land where every [hu]man is free.”

The Male Gaze

I can feel your eyes on me. They're burning me. You're imagining what I look like with no clothes on. You don't know me.

Your eyes just won't look away. I'm just trying to ride the subway. Please look away.

I feel your desire

I wish I didn't,

I wish you wouldn't.

Just

Leave

Me

Alone

I wish I could say it with my eyes, but if I look in

your direction you'll think I want it

You will think that I like you objectifying me. Looking at me but not really seeing me. You see my skin, you see my shape, you see my looks

But you don't see

Me.

Watching my thoughts fly by
Like common swifts flitting about in the sky

The right

Who has the right?
The decision to unleash the masses and expose them
to an
'invisible enemy'

Made vulnerable, the sheep can roam free in their pastures
Those pastures, contaminated,
Will poison the herd with time

One by one,
in no time.

One had the rite to take action.
To stop the threat from worsening ...

And yet
That one was not righteous.

One must hope
righteousness will soon be seen
Will soon be heard

In righteousness, we must come together in the herd
In spite of that one, we must unite!

Time makes memories
Memories define time
With each connection,
With each sensory dimension,
With each something to mention,
time one has filled
up
enriched
becomes memory.
Each memory is one of many other memories,
and every memory
makes up our time.
Branches reaching out into the air
Why one tree lives and one tree dies
Don't always seem fair
A blessing in disguise?
What animates the neural pathways
Floating in the ether
Love lives on -
time + space
